![]() If you want to change Cortana settings, just click on the gear icon at the left and you can turn it off or on, enable or disable Bing search, etc. In order to use Cortana, you also need to sign in with a Microsoft account. Many people have complained that way too much info gets sent to Microsoft and it’s probably true. Before you click the Use Cortana button, you’ll see a list of items that gets sent to Microsoft from your computer including location, searching history, calendar details, voice input, browsing history from Edge, and lots more. Note that you give up a lot of your privacy when you enable Cortana. If you want use Cortana, click Next and follow the instructions. If you click on Not interested, Cortana will be disabled, but you can still search the computer and web. When you click in the search box, you’ll be asked if you are interested in enabling Cortana or not. Right next to the start button is a new search box that also integrates Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual assistant software. It’s actually fairly useful and I like it more than the standard start menu in Windows 7. Basically, it’s a combination of the Windows 7 start menu and the Windows 8 start screen. The Registry Editor again comes to the rescue, so open it and you're ready for a new tweaking session. The Start menu is a whole different beast, so I’ll be writing a separate post on how to customize it. So, today we're going to show you a way to quickly move from these toast notifications from the top of the screen to the bottom and vice-versa, all with just a very simple registry tweak. In the new Windows 10 Technical Preview, toast notifications are by default launching from the top right corner of the screen, and we've heard quite a lot of users complaining that their position isn't quite the best when it comes to work on the desktop.Īnd if you're using the official Metro Twitter app and you receive messages on a regular basis, you most likely know how annoying it really is to see toast notifications popping out on the screen like crazy. Toast notifications have thus replaced the old balloon notifications once and for all, as Microsoft has decided to go all-in on the new design that makes a lot more sense when looking at modern Windows and the Metro UI. With Windows 10 Technical Preview, Microsoft implemented the very first notification center for Windows, bringing all messages sent by apps and the system in one place and at a single click away from you. ![]()
